The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Rice University has initiated an EERI student chapter! We are working on developing our annual activities and will post when, where and how to be involved in those in the coming weeks. Monthly meetings will be scheduled as well as special EERI-RU seminars for which we will invite national and local professionals to speak on earthquake engineering issues.
Yes we are in HOUSTON so earthquakes may not have pre-eminance in our minds like hurricanes do, but we are the UNITED STATES and a GLOBAL community…Natural disasters of all kinds need addressing by our burgeoning engineers. Thus we in the EERI-RU organization aspire to bring awareness to our community and provide outreach to young students in high-schools and middle schools.
